Flying Doctors

Flying Doctors Services

When planning a safari in East Africa, one common concern is what happens if a medical emergency occurs in a remote location. The Flying Doctors’ Society of Africa (FDSA) was established in 1971 to provide exactly this peace of mind.

With a fleet of fully equipped aircraft and ground ambulances, supported by highly trained doctors, nurses, and pilots on standby 24 hours a day, FDSA ensures that emergency medical assistance is always within reach—even in the most remote areas.

For just USD 15 per person for 14 days, travelers can explore Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda with confidence, knowing that emergency medical evacuation is fully covered.

How It Works

In the event of a medical emergency, members contact the 24-hour Emergency Control Centre. To ensure a fast response, you will be asked to provide essential details such as your location, patient information, and the nearest airstrip.

Depending on the situation, Flying Doctors will either:

  • Offer immediate medical advice, or

  • Dispatch a fully equipped aircraft to evacuate the patient to the nearest appropriate hospital.

With Flying Doctors coverage, you can focus on enjoying your safari—knowing expert help is always ready when you need it.
