Day to day Itinerary

Day 01 :
Londorossi Gate – Shira 1 Camp (3,610m / 11,844 ft)

After registration at Londorossi Gate, you will drive through lush montane forest until you reach the starting point of your trek on the western slopes of Kilimanjaro. The hike begins with a gentle walk across the Shira Plateau, offering incredible views of the mountain and surrounding valleys. Overnight stay at Shira 1 Camp.

Day 02 :
Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp (3,850m / 12,631 ft)

Today is a relatively easy day as you trek across the wide, scenic Shira Plateau. This day allows for great acclimatization as you walk slowly and enjoy the panoramic views of the peak and the open plains below. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 03 :
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower (4,630m / 15,190 ft) – Barranco Camp (3,960m / 12,992 ft)

This is an important acclimatization day. You ascend steadily to Lava Tower, where you’ll stop for lunch and experience high-altitude conditions. Afterward, descend into the Barranco Valley, surrounded by giant senecio plants and dramatic cliffs. Overnight at Barranco Camp.

Day 04 :
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (3,995m / 13,106 ft)

After breakfast, you begin with the famous Barranco Wall climb—an exhilarating scramble that rewards you with sweeping views. Continue across ridges and valleys before arriving at Karanga Camp. This shorter trekking day is perfect for acclimatization and preparing your body for the summit push.

Day 05 :
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,673m / 15,331 ft)

Today you trek upward towards Barafu Camp, the final base before your summit attempt. The terrain becomes more alpine and barren, with little vegetation. After reaching camp, you’ll rest, have an early dinner, and prepare for the midnight summit push.

Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m / 19,341 ft) – Mweka Camp (3,100m / 10,170 ft)

Around midnight, you begin the most challenging part of the trek. Slowly ascend in the dark with your guide, reaching Stella Point (5,756m) as the sun rises, and finally standing at Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photos, descend back to Barafu for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for your final overnight.

Day 06 :
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi/Arusha

After breakfast, trek down through lush montane forest to Mweka Gate, where you will receive your summit certificates. From here, transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
