A 7-day safari is an excellent duration for a trip focused on the Great Wildebeest Migration, as it allows you to travel to the best location for the herds at that time of year while still experiencing other key parks. The calving season, which is the focus of this package, occurs primarily from late January to March. During this period, the wildebeest are concentrated in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains.

Day to day Itinerary
Day 01 :
Arrival
Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by your safari guide. They will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha, a bustling city at the foot of Mount Meru. This day is for settling in and relaxing after your international flight. Your guide will provide a briefing for the upcoming safari and answer any questions you may have. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the hotel grounds or simply unwinding before your adventure begins.

Day 02 :
Tarangire
Tarangire National Park
After an early breakfast, you'll embark on a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. This park is the perfect introduction to your safari, known for its iconic baobab trees and massive herds of elephants. You will spend the entire day on a game drive, following the Tarangire River, a vital water source that attracts a spectacular concentration of animals. Look out for lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and a huge variety of birdlife. A picnic lunch will be served in the park, allowing you to stay out in the wilderness all day.

Day 03 :
Ndutu
Ndutu Plains
Today you will journey to the Ndutu Plains, a key part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem and the epicenter of the wildebeest calving season. The drive is scenic as you pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before arriving at the vast, open plains. You'll arrive at your mobile or semi-permanent camp for lunch. In the afternoon, you'll head out on your first game drive on the plains. This is a special time of year, with thousands of wildebeest calves being born daily. This event draws a high number of predators, so be prepared for some incredible predator-prey action.

Day 04 :
Ndutu
Full Day in the Ndutu Plains
You will spend a full day exploring the Ndutu plains, which offer a unique safari experience. Unlike other areas of the Serengeti, off-road driving is permitted in parts of Ndutu, allowing your guide to get you closer to the action. Your day will be focused on finding the large herds of wildebeest and zebra. You'll see the newborns taking their first steps, often wobbly and vulnerable. The plains are also a great place to spot cheetahs, which thrive on the open landscape, as well as lions and hyenas. The day is designed to fully immerse you in the "circle of life" unfolding before your eyes.

Day 05 :
Serengeti
Transition to the Central Serengeti
After a final morning game drive in the Ndutu plains, you'll begin your journey north toward the Central Serengeti. The landscape gradually shifts from the short-grass plains of Ndutu to the iconic, vast savannas of the main Serengeti National Park. You will have an en-route game drive, with a focus on exploring the Seronera Valley, which is famous for its resident wildlife, especially its large lion prides. You will arrive at your camp in the central Serengeti in the late afternoon, ready for a relaxed evening and a delicious dinner.

Day 06 :
Serengeti - Karatu
Serengeti to Karatu

Enjoy one more morning game drive in the Serengeti. This is a great opportunity to look for any animals you may have missed. After lunch, you will begin the long but scenic drive from the Serengeti back through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will drive to the town of Karatu, which is a bustling agricultural town located near the Ngorongoro highlands. You'll check into your lodge, often a beautiful farm-style property, where you can relax and prepare for your final day of safari.
