Begin your trek on the western slopes of Kilimanjaro, passing through dense rainforest with exotic birds and monkeys.
Hike out of the rainforest into the moorlands. Enjoy stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks as you reach Shira 1 Camp. This gradual ascent helps your body acclimatize.

Trek across the Shira Plateau with panoramic vistas of volcanic rock formations and wide-open landscapes. Set up camp at Shira 2 Camp for overnight.
Climb to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. The “climb high, sleep low” principle prepares you for higher altitudes.
